This is a hand turned beech wood vase turned from beech felled in North Wales. The tree was "dead standing" and had to be felled for safety reasons. I was gifted some sections from the tree by the local tree surgeons who felled it.
The vase is turned to accept a jam jar (which will be supplied with the vase) so that real flowers could be displayed if you so desired.
With almost all of my pieces I try to incorporate vestiges of the exterior bark in the finished work. This piece of timber turned beautifully and shows plenty graining and figure.
As is usual with all my work this is finished using my own beeswax polish made with wax donated by a fellow allotment plot holder who keeps bees.
