This is a hand turned cherry wood bowl. The timber originated on my wife's allotment. The tree was entirely unproductive so had to go! As with many of my items I like to leave remnants of the exterior of the tree bark where possible. This cherry wood is very nicely figured showing great variation in colour and graining. As the piece was not absolutely dry when turned it has "moved" slightly after completion. It would have been perfectly possible to remount this on the lathe and true it up but I decided against that as I find its oval appearance quite appealing. This bowl is finished in my own beeswax polish made from wax supplied by a local beekeeper friend.
