My name is Carys Nia Coupe and I am an artist born and raised in North Wales. I adore my home and the incredible coastlines, headlands and mountain ranges we have which is why I paint them. I have been crafting and making since I was a child, but really took to painting in my teens, always turning to my surroundings for inspiration. I studied Fine Art at Cardiff Metropolitan University where I explored minimalism, brutalist architecture and sculptural work in response to being in an urban environment, but now find myself returning to the colourful, unpredictable and wild landscapes of rural Wales.
I paint in acrylic on canvas and paper and reproduce my images as giclée prints and greetings cards. I also create original lino-print designs sold on cards and as limited edition prints. I started selling my work online in March 2020, which led to me starting my own business that I hope will one day become a commercial gallery and retail shop located in North Wales. Alongside my artwork, I plan to sell a range of homeware and lifestyle products such as textiles, ceramics and books to encourage the idea of 'curating' your home to better express yourself, improve your wellbeing and to integrate art and creativity into your everyday life.
