Before the Red Wall, there was the man who built it.
December 2010. Wales were ranked 117th in the world. Gary Speed took the job and changed everything. Diet, sports science, travel, training, belief. He had his players learn the anthem and sing it like it meant something, because it did.
Character. Leadership. Pride. Cymru. That was the standard he set, and the standard he expected. The young players coming through absorbed it. It became the culture.
By the end of 2011 Wales had climbed to 45th and were named FIFA's best movers of the year. Then, far too soon, he was gone. He was 42.
Every moment of Welsh football joy since has his fingerprints on it. The Catalyst. That is what history calls him, and that is what this tee is about.
